Effect of long-term intergenerational exposure to ocean acidification on ompa and ompb transcripts expression in European seabass (Dicentrarchus labrax)

Since sensory system allows organisms to perceive and interact with their external environment, any disruption in functioning may have detrimental consequences on survival. Ocean acidification has been shown potentially impair olfactory fish it is therefore essential develop biological tools contributing better characterize such effects. The marker protein (omp) gene involved the maturation activity of neurons vertebrates. In teleosts, two omp genes (ompa ompb) originating from whole genome duplication identified. this study, bioinformatic analysis allowed characterization ompa ompb European seabass (Dicentrarchus labrax) genome. differ deduced amino acid sequences expression pattern throughout tissues. While both mRNA are strongly expressed epithelium, was further observable different brain areas while also detected eyes other peripheral Expression levels were investigated adult (4 years-old, F0) offspring (F1) exposed pH 8 (control) or 7.6 (ocean acidification, OA). Under OA down-regulated up-regulated epithelium F0 adults, suggesting a long-term intragenerational OA-induced regulation system. A shift profiles observed at early larval stages F1 under OA, developmental process. Contrary F0, not anymore significantly regulated juvenile fish. This work provides evidence for impact sensorial as well potential intergenerational acclimation seabass.
